Shomik Ghosh Joins Sierra Ventures as Our New Partner
We’re excited to welcome Shomik Ghosh to Sierra Ventures as a Partner.
Shomik works closely with technical founders at the earliest stages, partnering with teams as they turn sharp technical insight into enduring companies across frontier and applied AI. He’s drawn to founders solving real enterprise pain points and likes being involved when the hardest product and company decisions are still ahead.
Before joining Sierra, Shomik was a Partner at Boldstart Ventures, where he invested at inception in enterprise and applied AI companies, including CloudQuery, Kiln AI, and Noded AI. Earlier, he was a growth-stage investor at Top Tier Capital Partners, backing companies from Series B through pre-IPO, including CircleCI, Anaplan, and Shape Security.
His career spans venture capital, growth equity, technology M&A, venture debt, fixed income trading, and time spent inside a startup that didn’t work out. That range has shaped how he shows up for founders, with empathy for the uncertainty of the early days and a clear sense for which early choices matter most later.

Outside of work, Shomik is an avid hiker and enjoys spending time with his wife and young son. He’s also a cautionary tale on the importance of stretching before pickleball, currently rehabbing a torn Achilles. Injury aside, his curiosity runs deep, and he’s always eager to sit down with founders to learn about what’s next in frontier technology, on or off the court.
