Sierra Ventures Inception Investment in Thrixel

AI has changed how we create text, images, video, and code. 3D has been left behind. Making production-ready 3D content still takes slow, expensive tools and deep technical skill, even though 3D assets sit underneath gaming, physical AI environments, and design. Agents can now write code and build software, but they still can't easily build the 3D worlds those applications run in.

Editable assets, not digital clay

Most AI 3D tools produce static "digital clay." It looks right in a render but is hard to work with afterward. Thrixel generates assets that are fully editable and production ready. Each one is built from individually named parts arranged in a logical hierarchy. For example, a car comes out with its wheels, doors, and chassis as separate parts that can be animated or swapped. This structure lets an AI agent identify, assemble, and animate assets directly in Unity, Unreal Engine, Three.js, and Roblox. Here's what that looks like in practice: Rana Hanocka's demo of Claude building a fully playable game with the Thrixel MCP. Alex Seropian, founder of Bungie, called it "the first AI 3D platform I've used that lets me craft a result iteratively and use the assets programmatically."

This entire game was built using Claude + Thrixel, an agentic 3D creation platform.

Built for the agentic era

Thrixel approaches 3D generation differently. Rather than generating a single static mesh, its technology creates structured, editable 3D assets that AI agents can understand and manipulate. This makes it possible for agents to go beyond generating individual objects to assembling entire interactive worlds, complete with game logic and behavior. Thrixel's new Build World workflow brings this to life, allowing creators to work alongside AI coding agents to build functional 3D experiences directly in their target engines.

The founder

We back people first. Rana Hanocka pioneered 3D deep learning with MeshCNN, followed that with Text2Mesh, and then LL3M. Rana Hanocka earned her PhD in Tel Aviv, in a research group behind many of the field's biggest results. Today she is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Chicago. Her founding engineering team includes longtime research collaborators. Few founders have both the research credibility and the product instinct to define a category. Rana Hanocka has both, and we think Thrixel will become the 3D layer of the agentic world.
